How I started
I began with a clear goal: I wanted to fly FPV drones. The thrill of speed, the freedom of movement, and the desire to push beyond my perceived limits drew me in. However, I had no idea where to start, so I bought a ready-to-fly kit and some extra batteries. I crashed repeatedly, spending countless hours untangling hair and grass from the motors. Eventually, one of the motors broke, and to my dismay, I couldn't find a replacement anywhere.
Determined, I invested more money in a new radio, goggles, and a Bind-And-Fly drone. When it arrived, I eagerly flashed it with new firmware, only to erase the original configuration and render it unable to send a signal to the flight controller. After spending over a grand, I was grounded and almost gave up. Frustrated, I set the hobby aside for a few months, focusing only on flight simulators.
Then, I stumbled upon some videos by Shogunemporer and joined their FPV community. With their help, I finally got my drone in the air. The joy of flying was overwhelming, and when I posted my first video in their Discord channel, I found myself wondering what it would be like to offer someone else that same exhilarating sense of freedom.
How you can start
If I could go back and time and just show them the way, I would start them off with all of the right gear to where less money is spent and it allows for the most amount of options.
Here is the list:
Radiomaster Zorro or Radiomaster Boxer
This is about personal preference. The zorro feels like a game controller and the boxer is a box
Skyzone SKY04O PRO FPV Goggles or HDzero
Skyzone is your analog goggle set and HDzero is a good low latency digital goggle. Analog Visual transmitters will be cheaper to build on drones
Auline 7.4 2s 4800mah Li-ion battery
Goggle Batteries. Use Velcro to secure batteries and plug.
Blomiky 2-in-1 2S 7.4V Battery Charger
Chargers for Goggle Batteries
Tinywhoop batteries
Tinywhoop battery charger
Power cable for battery charger
